Symbolic messages have been showing up in my life a lot lately.
First, it was feathers.
I was walking to a client’s house to do a grief recovery method session when I found a feather on my path. I picked it up and carried it along with me, leaving it in some shrubbery outside her house. Not long after that, I found a feather in the grocery store parking lot (I left it there to inspire the next person to find it). And then I found a white feather in my driveway as I was cleaning up around a rosebush I planted in honor of my Mum.
Three symbolic messages, one after the other.
Once I got the message – in this case, feathers often symbolize freedom, lightness and connection with Spirit and divinity – the feathers stopped coming.
They were replaced with light. Within about a week, I found 3 light sources – 2 flashlights and a lighter.
The first flashlight mysteriously appeared in my garden. The second one was under the bed at a cabin we rented for a few days. And the lighter I found in my garden while watering the plants. I guess Spirit is telling me to continue being a light in this world. I’ll do my best.
Why does information from Spirit come through symbols?
Communication from the other realms – whether that’s loved ones in Spirit, your guides, angels or even your own intuition – can’t come through normal channels. Spirit doesn’t have an actual mouth to speak, so it has to find another form of communication.
Symbols are a short cut
Any kind of communication takes energy. Regular face-to-face communication takes energy too. It takes more, or at least it’s more difficult, to make that communication happen when only one of you has a physical body.
Plus, I think the Divine has an excellent sense of humor and likes to get the point across in funny ways sometimes.
It’s a chance to slow down and go within
In order to even notice symbols, you need to slow down and be open to the idea that you’re receiving Divine communication. You have to be mindful and notice what’s happening in that moment.
Symbols also make us go within ourselves to figure out what they mean. Getting feathers all the time – What does that mean to you? Finding flashlights – same thing: What do you think it means? Or did you ask the universe a question and hear a song on the radio that pertains to it? Or does a certain number that comes up over and over again?
You get to ask yourself, your quiet, inner, wise self what it means for you, right now in your life.
It’s an opportunity to build trust with yourself
Whatever comes up for you is right.
This is a chance for you to build a trusting, loving relationship with yourself. Believe your inner self and what it tells you about the meaning of the symbol you’ve received.
Give yourself permission to trust yourself.
You really can’t go wrong here. Because if you do misinterpret it, Spirit will keep giving you signs through other symbols that you didn’t get it right and will keep at it until you do.
Enjoy opening yourself up to receiving information from Spirit and your divine self through symbols.
